f.a.q. about wedding photographyWho takes the photographs on the day? All the wedding photographs are created by me, Michael Slattery. What is your approach to working with people? I strive to treat people the way I like to be treated, with respect, honesty and empathy. What is your photographic background? I completed a Bachelor of Arts in 1995, specialising in Photography. Since then I have photographed hundreds of weddings in a reportage style. I am a current member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers (A.I.P.P). In 2002 I was awarded the title Master of Photography by the A.I.P.P in recognition of the quality of my wedding photography. To check the validity of my membership you might like to visit the A.I.P.P. website, www.aipp.com.au I have recently relocated to the UK from Australia and am based just north of London in St. Albans, Hertfordshire. I am available for wedding photography throughout the UK and beyond. What happens if the wedding is cancelled? If at least 12 months notice is given a 100% refund applies. Notice of cancellation within 12 months of the wedding date will result in a refund only if the date can be rebooked with another wedding. Do you use digital technology? Yes and No. To capture the images I use traditional film, then the negatives are professionally scanned to produce digital files. What happens if you were ill and unable to attend a wedding? I would arrange for the best quality photographer I could find to replace me. In these circumstances the couple would receive a 50% refund of the total cost of photography… as if I need any incentive to stay healthy! Do you have an assistant? Under normal circumstances I do not use an assistant. I prefer not to draw attention to myself. In this way people remain involved in the events of the wedding day and seem far more natural and at ease with the camera. Having an assistant would make me conspicuous. Do you take any formal photographs? Yes. I take as many formal photographs as the couple wish. These photographs are completed quickly and efficiently. This ensures that smiles are real and guests are not left waiting too long. What is the process of booking and paying for your services? On request* I will provide a written quotation for wedding photography. With your acceptance of the quotation a wedding agreement form is completed and a 10% deposit is paid. This confirms your booking. The remaining 90% is due a few weeks before the wedding. * please see the Available Dates section of my website |
